Heidelberg’s Wiesloch-Walldorf site is one of the Group’s largest industrial complexes and a nerve center for its activities. Located in Germany, it plays a strategic role in the production and development of technologies related to printing and other industrial sectors. It manufactures industrial printing equipment and complex technological products.

The agreement provides for the elimination of around 450 positions in a socially responsible manner, taking advantage of retirements and voluntary applications. With personnel costs representing almost a third of the company’s annual sales, this measure is designed to improve efficiency while enabling investment in infrastructure modernization, training and artificial intelligence projects.

Heidelberg confirms its commitment to making the Wiesloch-Walldorf site a hub of innovation, particularly for the production of complex industrial technologies and expansion in sectors such as automation, software, digital printing and packaging. The company anticipates growth opportunities of over 300 million euros by the 2028/2029 financial year thanks to these initiatives.

Heidelberg builds on its partnership with Canon to strengthen its presence in digital printing, and benefits from the growing worldwide demand for alternatives to plastic packaging. Over 85% of the company’s business is now conducted internationally, with a particularly strong position in Asia and China thanks to local production.

Despite the one-off costs of around ?30 million associated with implementing the plan, Heidelberg is maintaining its financial forecasts for the 2024/2025 financial year, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 7.2% and sales equivalent to the previous year’s ?2.395 billion.
